Meet Ariane the Corn Snake
She is about a year and a
half old now and 96cm (3" 2') long.
I called her Ariane because she has a marking on the top of her head which looks just like a rocket (you can just make it out in the photograph on the left).
Corn Snakes
(Elaphe guttata) are found all over an immense area of the
United States from south-eastern New Jersey to the southernmost
tip of the Florida Keys, and from those states west to
central Kentucky and eastern Louisiana.
They are
constrictors and are called Corn Snakes because in the wild they
hunt rodents in the corn fields common in the areas where they
are found.
Corn Snakes are relatively easy to care for and are an ideal starter snake for those looking for their first pet snake.
Ariane is a very friendly snake and loves being handled, especially if you gently stroke her (she also appears to be ticklish!!)
